In cases where microorganisms are noted on microscopic examination without evidence of neutrophils, an ear cleaning protocol as monotherapy without the use of an antimicrobial can be implemented. Ensure the comfort of the patient with topical or systemic corticosteroid treatment.

Severe Secretions

q24h x 5-7 days, then every 2 days x 10-14 days, then 2 x/week until follow-up.

Moderate Secretions

q24h x 3-5 days, then every 2 days x 7-10 days, then 1-2 x/week until follow-up.

Mild Secretions

Every 2 days x 7-14 days, then 1 x/week until follow-up.
